Amygdalin is a substance present in apricots, apples, peaches, plums, red cherries, and other fruits in their bases or seeds. In the 1950s, a partially man-made, distilled form of amygdalin, classified as Laetrile, was licensed and became a common alternative treatment for cancer during the 1960s and ’70s. The way it dissolves your intestines makes cyanide, which reportedly destroys tumor cells that are toxic.
