Valerian extract is a mixture prepared from crushed valerian by hydroalcoholic method.
Valerian (Latin scientific name: Valeriana officinalis L.) is native to parts of Asia and Europe, and cultivated in North America. Its stems and leaves are used as food by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species (butterfly and moth). The rhizomes and roots of Valerian root are used for medicinal purposes, can drive wind, antispasmodic, treat bruises, etc., and can also be used as a dietary supplement.
