Lactobacillus acidophilus belongs to the genus Lactobacillus and is a Gram-positive bacillus. The rod end is round and is a small (about 0.5 mm in diameter), reticular, convex, rough-surfaced colony with curled edges. It is mainly found in the small intestine and releases lactic acid, acetic acid and some antibiotics that act on harmful bacteria, but the antibacterial effect is weak.
Lactobacillus acidophilus mainly exists in the small intestine of the human body. It complements Bifidobacteria and plays a role in promoting human health by maintaining the microecological balance of the entire gastrointestinal tract.
