Lipoic Acid is a natural substance with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that are beneficial to our health. Lipoic acid (also known as alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), R-lipoic acid, or thioctic acid) is a disulfide – containing compound found inside every cell in the body. Some scientists call this acid a “universal antioxidant”. A healthy human body produces enough lipoic acid to meet its energy needs, so there is no daily need to supplement this acid in the diet.
